Prepare, Act, Survive. Are you Fire Ready?
Why should I be concerned?
Victoria is an extremely fire prone area of Australia. Whether you live, work or play here, almost any part of Victoria could come under threat from bushfire at some time. The suburbs, the beach, the forest, the countryside, the mountains – every Victorian resident or visitor in every environment has a role to play in personally protecting themselves from bushfire.
Is it my responsibility?
Yes! CFA will never be able to protect each and every one of you during a fire. CFA wants to help you to understand the risk and what it means to you and your family. If you plan now, you could save your life.
What should I consider?
- How safe is your house?
- What is your family situation?
- How do you deal with stress both physically and emotionally?
- What about your trees and plants?
- How do you make a plan?
- What else do you need to know?
Where can I find out more?
CFA has a range of ways to help you make your bushfire survival plan.
Information is available on:
- Planning for bushfire
- Attending a community meeting near your street
- Joining a neighbourhood Community Fireguard group. Join an existing group or start a new one.
The CFA has identified the site for the new Toolangi Fire Brigade station, and we are proud to announce that it will be located on the DSE site, on the western side of the Discovery Centre.
There is still much to do before the first sod will be turned, but we all look forward to having more room to train, and a closer association with the DSE.
